REFUGEE & HUMANITARIAN VISA (SUBCLASS 200, 201, 203 and 204)

Overview

In cases where an individual will be persecuted in their home country, Refugee Visa (subclass 200, 201, 203, and 204) allows the individual to migrate to Australia. There are four subclasses under this visa:

  1. Subclass 200 – Refugee
  2. Subclass 201 – In-country Special Humanitarian
  3. Subclass 203 – Emergency Rescue
  4. Subclass 204 – Woman at Risk

This visa allows the person to:

  • Live, study, and work in Australia indefinitely;
  • Register in Medicare, Australia’s public healthcare system.
  • Propose family members for permanent residence;
  • Travel in and out of Australia for five (5) years;
  • Take free English language classes for 510 hours;
  • Apply for citizenship in Australia, if qualified.

Things to consider when applying for this visa:

  • Processing
    • Processing time may take months or, for some cases, years, but the Cornerstone Migration team will exert best efforts to get it in less than the stated months.
    • Be mindful when filling the application. Avoid errors when inputting data, and always check documents to be included.
    • Pay the correct visa application charges. Application will not be process if the applicant has not paid the costs.
  • Eligibility
    • Not in Australia during application.
    • Subject to persecution in home country.
    • Meet health and character requirement.
    • Do not arrive before person stated in the visa – condition for all Refugee visa.
