Prospective Marriage Visa

If you are engaged to an Australian citizen, permanent resident or New Zealand citizen, you can apply for a prospective marriage visa which allows you to come to Australia and marry your spouse. You must be outside Australia when the visa is granted and you must marry within 9 months.

This Visa allows the person to:

  • Stay in Australia for up to 9 months when visa is granted
  • Work and study (without funds from government);
  • Travel in and out of Australia, while visa is active.

Things to consider when applying for this visa:

When applying for this visa, the applicant is advised to read the following:

  • Processing time may take around 26-32 months, but the Cornerstone Migration team will exert best efforts to get it in less than the stated months.
  • Be mindful when filling the application. Avoid errors when inputting data, and always check documents to be included.
  • Pay the correct visa application charges. Application will not be process if the applicant has not paid the costs.
  • Have a sponsor when lodging the visa.
  • Must be 18 years old or above.
  • Plan to marry their prospective spouse before visa expires.
  • Meet the health and character requirement.

Prospective Marriage Visa (subclass 300) incurs the following costs:

  • Main applicant: AUD7,715
  • Applicant shall pay for Partner Visa, but the amount is reduced if he/she marries his/her soon-to-be spouse before Prospective Marriage Visa expires.
  • There is a fee for family members who are not holding a visa and wishes to apply for the visa with the main applicant.
  • There are also other payments, not part of the cost mentioned above, for health checks, biometrics, and police certificates.
