Partner Visa
If you are legally married or a de facto partner of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or New Zealand citizen, you may be eligible to apply for a partner inside or outside of Australia
THIS VISA ALLOWS THE PERSON TO:
- Live, work and study in Australia indefinitely;
- Travel in and out of Australia for five (5);
- Sponsor family member/s to come to Australia;
- Register in Medicare, Australia’s public healthcare system;
- If eligible, attend free English classes provided by the Adult Migrant English program;
- And apply for Australian citizenship, if qualified.
THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN APPLYING FOR THIS VISA:
Processing
- Processing time may take around 11-22 months, but the Cornerstone Migration team will exert best efforts to get it in less than the stated months.
- Be mindful when filling the application. Avoid errors when inputting data, and always check documents to be included.
- Pay the correct visa application charges. Application will not be process if the applicant has not paid the costs.
Eligibility
- Hold a Temporary Partner Visa (subclass 820) for two (2) years, or Dependent Child Visa (subclass 445)
- If the applicant has been in a long term relationship with their partner, the visa may be granted immediately after temporary Partner visa.
- Married or in a de facto relationship with:
- An Australian citizen;
- An Australian permanent resident;
- An eligible New Zealand citizen.
- The relationship may be same or different sex.
- Continue to be sponsored
- Must be in Australia when lodging but, may be in or outside Australia when decision is made.
COST:
Onshore – Temporary (820) incurs the following costs:
- Main applicant with no prior visa: AUD7,715
- Main applicant holding a Prospective Marriage Visa (subclass 300): AUD1,285
- Applicants who held a subclass 300 but did not apply for subclass 820 before expiration: AUD1,630
- There is a fee for family members who wishes to apply for the visa with the main applicant.
- There are also other payments, not part of the cost mentioned above, for health checks, biometrics, and police certificates.
THIS VISA ALLOWS THE PERSON TO:
- Live in Australia until permanent Partner visa (subclass 801) is approved or if the said application is withdrawn;
- Work and study in Australia (without government support for study);
- Travel in and out of Australia;
- Take free English classes provided by the Adult Migrant English Program;
- Register in Medicare, Australia’s public healthcare system.
THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN APPLYING FOR THIS VISA:

Eligibility
- Should be married or be in a de facto relationship with:
- An Australian citizen;
- An Australian permanent resident;
- An eligible New Zealand citizen.
- The relationship may be same or different sex.
- Must be 18 years old or above.
- Must be in Australia, when lodging the application and when decision is made.
- In de facto relationship must be proven to be 12 months or more.
- Meet the health and character requirement.
COST:
Onshore – Permanent (801) incurs the following costs:
- The cost for this visa is covered by the First Stage (subclass 820).
- There is a fee for family members who wishes to apply for the visa with the main applicant.
- There are also other payments, not part of the cost mentioned above, for health checks, biometrics, and police certificates.

- Travel in and out of Australia for five (5);

- Have a sponsor when lodging the visa.

Offshore – Temporary (309) incurs the following costs:
- Main applicant with no prior visa: AUD7,715
- Family members holding a Dependent Child visa (subclass 445): No Fee
- There is a fee for family members who is not holding a visa and wishes to apply for the visa with the main applicant.
- There are also other payments, not part of the cost mentioned above, for health checks, biometrics, and police certificates.
