WORKING HOLIDAY VISA (SUBCLASS 417)

Overview

Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417) is for young adults who wish to stay in Australia with an extended holiday to work and fund it. The visa is divided into three stages, First Working Holiday, Second Working Holiday, and Third Working Holiday visa.

 

FIRST WORKING HOLIDAY VISA

Allows certain tourists aged between 18 and 30 years old to have an extended holiday in Australia, while supplementing their funds with short-term work.

This visa allows the person to:

  • Work for a short period in Australia to pay for expenses during holiday;
  • Study for up to 17 weeks;
  • Travel in and out of Australia, while the visa is active;
  • Do three (3) months of specified work to be qualified for a Second Working Holiday visa.

Things to consider when applying for this visa:

  • Processing
    • Processing time may take around 4-8 months, but the Cornerstone Migration team will exert best efforts to get it in less than the stated months.
    • Be mindful when filling the application. Avoid errors when inputting data, and always check documents to be included.
    • Pay the correct visa application charges. Application will not be process if the applicant has not paid the costs.
  • Eligibility
    • Be outside Australia when applying for this stage.
    • Citizen and holds a passport from one of the following countries:

  • Aged between 18 – 30 years old.
  • Have never entered Australia with the following visa:
    • Working Holiday visa (subclass 417)
    • Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462)
  • Be financially capable of supporting self during stay in Australia and leaving.
  • Meet the health and character requirements.

 

SECOND WORKING HOLIDAY VISA

May be granted to those applicants who have completed three (3) months of specified work in regional areas in Australia, while holding a First Working Holiday Visa.

This visa allows the person to:

  • Work for a short period in Australia to pay for expenses during holiday;
  • Study for up to 17 weeks;
  • Travel in and out of Australia, while the visa is active;
  • Do six (6) months of specified work to be qualified for a Third Working Holiday visa.

  • Hold one Working Holiday visa (subclass 417) and complied with all the condition on the said visa.
  • Be financially capable of supporting self during stay in Australia and leaving.
  • Meet the health and character requirements.

 

THIRD WORKING HOLIDAY VISA

May be granted to those applicants who meet the addition requirements in their work during the Second Working Holiday Visa period.

This visa allows the person to:

  • Work for a short period in Australia to pay for expenses during holiday;
  • Study for up to 17 weeks;
  • Travel in and out of Australia, while the visa is active;

Things to consider when applying for this visa:

  • Processing
    • Processing time depends on the circumstances, but the Cornerstone Migration team will exert best efforts to get it in less than the stated months.
    • Be mindful when filling the application. Avoid errors when inputting data, and always check documents to be included.
    • Pay the correct visa application charges. Application will not be process if the applicant has not paid the costs.
  • Eligibility

  • Be financially capable of supporting self during stay in Australia and leaving.
  • Completed six (6) months of specified work during the second Working Holiday visa.
  • Meet the health and character requirements.

Cost:

Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417) incurs the following for each stages:

    • Main Applicant: AUD485
    • There are other payments not part of the cost mentioned above, for health checks, biometrics, and police certificates.
